Lazy Sundays.

It has to be said that after last nights Halloween festivities I am feeling somewhat rather fragile today. Note to self - Vodka and Cider really isn't a very good mix. Neither is wearing heels when you already have a rather sizeable blister on the back of your foot. Therefore I have decided to treat myself to one of my favourite past times. A nice lazy Sunday. Oh you really can't beat them. I'm not going to do any work, I might not even go outside (it's pretty gloomy here in Brighton). I will definitely eat a huge roast and I absolutely will lay around on the sofa whilst drinking cup after cup of tea. And the outfit I've chosen to do this in? A good old patterned cardi. Yep, the kind that used to get you strange looks in the street but is now likely to give you instant street cred.

My cardi is from a vintage fair and I love the Nordic print. There are so many of these cardis around at the moment that I would really recommend getting yours from a vintage store - least you know that it's one of a kind that way. There's thousands and thousands on eBay too so get browsing. Oh and apologies for the antisocial photo but these eye bags are enough to give anyone a fright! Regardless of it being Halloween!

Spooktacular Style.

It's that time of year again. The time where we all dress up like ghosts and ghouls and roam round the streets screaming 'Trick or treat'. Thats right, IT'S HALLOWEEN!! Well technically its not until tomorrow but lets face it most people are celebrating tonight so we don't have to spend Monday morning with a beast of a hangover. And true to form I have been rediculously unorganised again this year so was left at the last minute trying to scramble together an outfit that remained suitably stylish and of course still wearing something vintage.

This frock is beyond lovely. It's got a super cute peter pan collar and is made by One and Only Vintage who create one-off bespoke pieces out of cuts of stunning vintage fabrics. Definitely check out their website if your after an original frock.

Now if I had have been organised I would have definitely got involved with the Brighton zombie walk that kicked off at 3pm this afternoon. Around 2000 zombies roamed round Brighton's streets scaring innocent bystanders as they set off on a trek through the town. It was so much fun to watch and the amount of effort that everyone had gone to was amazing. Definitely one to join in with next year. Hmm I wonder if I could be a zombie pin up girl? Oh and if you don't like blood and guts its best not to look at the images below...

Now lets just hope we have a purrrfect night. Oh god, I'm sorry. That joke made even me feel queasy.

Smokin' in cigarette pants.

I have to admit I rarely wear trousers. I mean obviously I wear trousers, I'm not some kind of closet flasher. But I mean that I generally always stick to denim. Purely I think due to being forced to wear black school trousers for years and years that were always just a little bit hoisty. That's enough to put anyone off for life, but it's made especially worse when you spent most of your school years just trying to fit in. Not an easy feat when your about two feet taller than everyone else and you look like you have been shrunk in the wash I can tell you. That said, I feel like I'm ready to face my fears and embrace proper trousers again by wearing what is commonly known as the 'cigarette pant'. These type of trousers have been tipped as one of the seasons key investment pieces and I couldn't agree more. They can literally be worn with any of the other trends out there. I've opted for a bit of a fifties vibe and teamed them with a leopard print belt, a cropped cardi and of course a nice little vintage headband. Although I'm already planning other outfits to wear them with. Ladies and Gentlemen, I do believe I have just had a trouser epiphany. Hallelujah.

All day and all of the night.

I would like to say that generally I can style myself to look half decent nine out of ten times (I hope!) but I, like many other women I'm sure, struggle with certain outfit scenarios. One being - that horrible transfer between day and night. I just can't do it. If I'm going out straight from work I either look rediculously dressed up for the whole day and then feel a bit like a dirty stop-out or I end up showing up for my evening plans looking like I've just rolled out of bed and everyone else is rediculously glamourous. Take tonight for example, I'm going to a gig after work so this morning I had the horrible dilemma of working out what to wear for both work and this gig. It's pretty cold outside today too (don't let the sunshine decieve you) so I also had to factor in that I would probably be cold walking to and from said gig but also taking into account the fact that the venue I'm going to might as well be a sauna for the amount of sweating that goes on inside that joint. It's just too much for one girl to think about! Oh how I yearn to be one of those girls that can just throw on something on the morning and it'll see her through the day.

So as I was just about ready to throw my morning cuppa across my bedroom it suddenly came to me what I could do to jazz up my outfit so it would be fit for both...TIGHTS! I don't know how I didn't think of it before. I have so many pairs of patterned tights and I have not untilised them! So today I've whacked on some spotty tights and voila, I do believe my outfit is suitable enough for work and play.

Brooch - Vintage
Tights - Urban Outfitters

What do you think? I think it's a pretty good effort considering my normal disasters. I'm also sporting a lovely little vintage horseshoe brooch given to me by my Nanna. Hopefully that will bring me some good luck with the outfit choice at least! Now I just need to get these House of Holland tights in my life and there will be no stopping me...

Oh and if you too fancy an awesome gig tonight head to the Prince Albert in Brighton to check out a totally rad band called Doctor Pop. Feast your ears round this..

A day for chunky knits.

Well today certainly feels like Winter has arrived. It's rainy, chilly and I have the beginnings of a cold. I've tried going outside and even thought that a little walk with my friends pup round the local park would perk me up. But no such luck. I'm giving in to today and have decided to spend the rest of the day working from my sofa with some miracle cures for the winter blues. What are these cures I hear you ask? Well for me, you can't go wrong with a chunky knit, a romcom and hot squash. Top tip - If you ever have a cold then you HAVE to drink hot squash. I swear by it! Ribena's generally the best way to go but any old squash will do the trick too.

I found today's rather lovely aran cardi in a little thrift sale in a Suffolk town called Southwold yesterday. I came across it purely by mistake as I was looking for something else and saw a little sign saying 'Market' outside what looked like a community centre. Curiously I popped my head in the door and my eyes were met with teapots, fur coats and random fifties paraphernalia. Pretty much a room full of my favourite things really. So obviously I took some snaps to share with you all...

Now if you'll excuse me I have a date with Colin Firth AND Hugh Grant. What a way to spend an afternoon.

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside...

For me, no trip to Suffolk is complete without a trip to the seaside. And no trip to the seaside is complete without a bit of sandcastle building, a quick paddle in the sea, writing the initials of boys we fancy in the sand, afternoon tea to warm your freezing fingers and a nice stroll along the promenade. Preferably in that order. Followed by fish and chips. So thats exactly what we did. Except for the dip in the sea. It was freaking freezing today you know.

Todays frock was yet another eBay find. A nice little vintage floral sundress...I figure I can still wear them as long as we keep having blue skies like today.
