Shake your tail feather.

The bird trend is allllll over the fashion houses at the moment. High street stores are literally full with bird prints, jewel encrusted bird jewellery and they are even on our bags and shoes. I, for one, couldn't be happier. I love a bird print. In fact I really like birds in general. The kind of birds that look gloriously plump and with a nice shiny plumage are my particular favourites. Saying that, I don't think I could ever own one. I love to watch them but the fear that they are going to fly into my face scares the bejesus out of me. To the point sometimes when I cross the road just to avoid them. I've also been known to cause a fuss in the middle of busy street just so I don't go too close to the bird and it flies at me. Irrational I know, but it doesn't stop me loving them none the less. Just from a distance...

Here is a quick sneak peek at a few of my favourite birdy trinkets around at the moment -

Now as it's Friday I think its perfectly acceptable for a little bit of sillyness. So I am taking this bird trend and moving it to a whole new level. With designers becoming more and more conceptual with their designs and celebs like Gaga wearing dresses made of meat and Paloma Faith wearing fruit all over her head I think its only right that I try and do the same. I'm thinking of making this fella into a rather nice bag or even a fetching headpiece. What do you think?

This amazing little chap was handmade by the lovely Catherine Grimaldi - a Brighton based artist and illustrator. She has made this little critter and a number of others for Rosemary Harris, a performance poet who is about to start a show called 'Roo in a Suitcase' in collaboration with the Half Moon Theatre in Hackney. Made from recycled toys found in jumble sales, car boots and charity shops, she truly is a taxidermist of unloved toys. I might have to steal this one though, I'm a little bit in love with him. Having said that I don't think my local would be that impressed if I walked in with him on my head or pulled my purse out of him to order my pint. I'll have to stick to this bag instead, which is quite frankly boring in comparison. Found in a charity shop in the New Forest a few years back it does however add a lovely vintage twist to my outfit.

And if like me, you too like birds. And Motown. Then cop a load of this...
