Running a smock.

To say I'm a busy lady today is a big understatement. I feel a bit like my head might blow off with the amount of things being added to my already very long 'to do' list. As well as my day job, I have meetings to plan, photos to edit and I'm even popping into a launch party at Laste's brand spanking new shop in Brighton. Although that's hardly a chore as word on the street is that the new shop is super lovely AND they'll be dishing out wine. Now we're talking! Anyway, I dont know about you but running here there and everywhere when its rainy and windy whilst trying to remain stylish and perfectly coiffed is no mean feat. I have a handy tip for you though. Wear a smock. I find that a smock is one of the easiest things to run around town in and it means you can still wear a dress. You don't have to worry about it riding up or being too tight. It's thin enough to wear with lots of layers yet you still remain totally freeeee! Although in this weather I do advise wearing a coat longer than said smock otherwise you might end up pulling a Marilyn to the poor unsuspecting public. And as my Mum would say, "no one likes to see tomorrows washing". Well, they might if they fancy you but it's always good sense to avoid flashing in public. Everyone knows that..

My smock is from Urban Outfitters and today's vintage piece is this stunning cameo brooch. It's a bit of a family heirloom and has been passed down through the generations. A brooch like this one is perfect to wear when your dress has a collar or detailing on the front that would be spoiled by a necklace. Oh and please excuse the creased dress. I don't actually own a iron. I never have. Although looking at this photo I think it might be time to invest in one..! I also think it might be time for me to invest in more smocks now I have realised their potential. I particularly like this Chloe one. It's so cute and it's covered in floral embroidery. There's a dress that has my name on if ever I saw one.
