My hunt for a new winter coat.

I had the morning off work this morning so thought it would be the perfect opportunity to take a trip into town and bag myself a new winter coat. I had the picture of a perfect little vintage number in my head (a nice thick woven one preferably with some kind of hood to shelter me from the rain) and after trawling through vintage shop after vintage shop it became apparent that I wasn't going to find what I was looking for. The ones that I loved just looked plain wrong so in desperation I ended up trying on macs, swing jackets, capes, blazers and even at one point tried on a quilted puffer jacket. I think I read somewhere that puffer jackets were tipped as a AW10 trend but after seeing what this particular coat looked like on, I can definitely say that this is one trend that I will most certainly not be buying into. Slightly disheartened I decided to give up and go back to the office and have a look online. Not after a quick trip to Primark to stock up on some cheap winter tights though. Now I have to say that I would really really love to not have Primark in my life but my thrifty students ways unfortunately still come back to haunt me and low and behold I find myself in there quite regularly. Please don't judge me. Anyway as I was perusing the rails (or more like rummaging through the piles that now lay on the floor) I came across a lovely green coat that had a really vintage vibe. I hunted for my size, put it on and had a quick check in the mirror only to find it was exactly what I was looking for. The length and the style were just perfect and I love the autumnal green colour. Now I know it doesn't have a hood like I needed, but hey that's what hats and umbrellas are for right? And I did need an excuse to buy another hat anyway...

So I removed the vintage brooch that was on the boyfriend jacket I was wearing earlier and have put it straight onto my new coat. I don't know if you do the same but I always find that when I buy something new my attention is immediately focused on it and all other things get thrown to the back of the wardrobe like a child's unused old toy. Poor little jacket, he had no idea that by lunchtime I would have replaced him with something brand spanking new. Having said that, I do love that when you have clear outs you find said jackets/dresses etc that you had forgotten about and then immediately fall in love with them again. It's like a fashion circle of life. Except Elton John's not involved. Unless you happen to be playing his greatest hits whilst having your clear out of course..

And if you're going to listen to any Elton John song then it has to be this one. Check out the A-MAZING camp lycra clad video. I blooming love it!
