I haven't entered a competition especially for bloggers before but the 'National Holidays Blogger competition' offering a Valentines break for two grabbed my attention. Calling all bloggers, you should enter too! All you have to do is list your most romantic moment.
Well I am super loved up at the moment (probably why the thought of a romantic valentines break made my eyes go ding ding ding!) and those of you that follow me on Twitter will know myself and my boyo are currently planning our wedding. Eep.
Last year was a crazy year and with running a business with one of my besties, working full time and buying and renovating our first home, it was a bit of a whirlwind. We FINALLY got the keys to our flat on the 11th October 2013 after months of waiting. We had booked two weeks off work from this date onwards so we could gut it and renovate it ourselves and we both decided that it would be nice to camp in the flat the first night before all the madness ensued.
We had agreed that Harry would meet me after work and we would walk to the flat together. Upon entering the flat, I spotted there was a light on. I immediately thought that was weird and suspected Harry had been up to no good. He's sneaky like that! I walked into the living room to find a camp bed set up, a delicious indoor picnic and a bottle of fizz. I did a swoon and screamed a bit and beelined it straight for the fizz to celebrate.
Just as I went to reach it, he stopped me and said 'There's one more thing...'. At this point he started to do his little speech (to which I cried) before he got down on one knee, presented the ring and asked me to marry him.
I cried, he cried and I said (blubbed) 'Of course I'll marry you'.
It really was the best day of my life. I never dreamed I would be able to own my own flat and to get a fiancee and a flat in one day was overwhelmingly amazing!
Now we need a break just to get away from all the crazy wedding planning! (hint, hint National holidays!) I always knew planning weddings was full on but I didn't realise just how much there is to think about. Over the next year I'll be doing more wedding posts so be sure to check back for DIY projects to inspiration stations and more.
Oh and here is the bling. Harry's Dad actually made this ring. On our second date Harry was wearing three rings which his Dad had given to him that day. This ring was made from one of those and the other two will be our wedding bands.
