RECIPE - Vegan Chocolate Energy Balls

The great guys over at Linwoods sent me some Flaxseeds this week and being a fan of baking it was an ideal time to test out my skills. With a busy week in front of me I decided to make some energy balls to keep me going.

The great thing about Flaxseeds is that they contain vitamin D. Vitamin D is the sunshine vit, so even if it's dreary outside you are still giving your body a burst of much needed sun.

These balls are super easy and can be easily free-styled if you don't have all of the ingredients in your store cupboard. You can swap the nuts for cashew nuts or walnuts or more honey, less syrup or vice versa depending on your taste.


1/2 cup brazil nuts
1/2 cup almonds
3 tbsp flaxseed
1/2 cup Cacao (or cocoa powder)
1/2 cup raisins
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp date syrup
1 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
A splash of water
Desiccated coconut to decorate (optional)


1. Add the nuts, flaxseed, cacao, and wet ingredients into your blender and blitz for a minute or so.
You'll know when it's ready as the nuts will be broken down and the mixture is starting to condense together.

2. Fold in the raisins to the mixture.

3. Roll into small balls - makes around 20

4. Top with desiccated coconut if you wish.

5. Pop them in a fridge for an hour or so to harden up and enjoy! They keep for about a week in the fridge or if you've made too many freeze them for a later date.
