TRAVEL - My Staycation wishlist

I had a conversation with some friends over dinner on Friday night about travelling. I haven't travelled much at all. I've been to France, Spain and New York and that's it outside of the UK. When I was talking about it though I didn't really feel like I'd missed out. Most of the time when I feel the need to get away it's purely for the reason that I need a break, be it for a night, a weekend or a week. The fact I've stayed at so many amazing places in the UK has fulfilled that need entirely. In fact even though I have a list of places in the world I'd like to visit, I also still have a list of places in the UK I'd go like to.

1. First up is Portmeirion.

This small village in Gwynedd, North Wales was designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975 in the style of an Italian village. It's chocolate box appearance is so pleasing to the eye and each year they host Festival Number 6 where the town comes alive with performances, live music and more. The idea of running in and out of lots of cute little buildings to see so many different things going on is amazing.

2. Edinburgh.

I've always wanted to go to Edinburgh. The whole city is rich in culture and everyone I've spoken to that's gone there, whether its for the Edinburgh festival or just for a mini-break sings it's praises. If I could stay anywhere in Edinburgh it would be at the Atholl Hotel. It is super pricey but it is THE most luxurious hotel in Edinburgh and this IS a wishlist..! Having said that, there are lots more affordable options to stay in Edinburgh.

3. The Dune House, Suffolk

The Dune House is near Thorpeness in Suffolk and true to it's name it's nestled within the Dunes. The secluded 5 bedroom house was designed by Norwegian architects Jarmund/Vigsnaes who are known in Scandinavia for their creative responses to different types of landscapes.

4. London

I go to London a lot but I've never stayed anywhere really swanky, I normally just stay with friends. I would love to stay at The Savoy at some point in my life. It's just too iconic to pass up!

5. St Ives - Carbis Bay Apartment

Sometimes it's nice to feel like you are abroad even though you are in the UK. Cornwall is so so beautiful and as I haven't been since I was a kid it's high up on my list. Carbis Bay Hotel offers amazing beachside apartments with views that you could easily mistake for Greece. Aaaand relax..!

Are there any UK destinations on your wishlist? Can you recommend anymore to put onto mine?
