This week I took it upon myself to give my new sewing machine a whirl. Bought with my birthday money from lots of different family members I decided a quick and easy make was the best way to road test it.
We have been having lots of friends and family over for dinner since we moved into our new flat in October last year and a week doesn't go by without a dinner party of some kind. As such, we've gone through our fair share of paper napkins.
With that in mind I decided to make some cotton napkins which we can wash and reuse. I bought a metre of navy gingham and set to work.
The napkins are 20" square and because I was pushed for time I didn't even hem them. I simply sewed around the very edge of each one as close possible to avoid any fraying.
We used them for the first time last week when we had friends over to watch the Germany - Brazil match. We had a german themed dinner too!
What have you made this week?
